About the Study:

Aspire Jesus is a six-week group study aimed to reveal God's love for us, His expectations for all men, and His specific purpose for your life. This study covers 6 critical ways in which we should strive to become more like Christ as our example for true manhood.

This study is all about learning how to be the man that God created you to be. To encourage you in your struggles and to prepare you for the challenges that await you with a Christ-centred mentality and the boldness of the Holy Spirit. There are many excellent resources and programs that help Christians and men specifically to lead lives that God expects. Where this study differs from those is to build some fundamental principles on manhood on which to build a lifetime of continued discipleship with the ultimate goal of developing a Christ-like character. The foundational principle of our lives as Christian men should be to aspire greatness – but the only greatness that matters is to be like Jesus.

Questions:

Question:Do I need to attend a small group for this study?

Answer:The weekly video teaching is only available in the small group context. Whilst the daily devotion on its own may be helpful, those readings serve to reinforce the main point established in the group discussion. Also, as guys, meeting together to talk about serious and sometimes personal stuff can often be the best way to grow deeper in our relationship with each other in Christ.

Question:Is this course suitable for someone that is just exploring Christianity?

Answer:Yes - the first week's focus is on revisiting the simple, but vital good news or "Gospel" of Jesus as our savior. Subsequent weeks build on this foundation in terms of how a Christian should respond to that good news. However, the course is aimed primarily at Christians that have already made a statement of faith and does not give as much time only to humanity's need for salvation as other courses such as Alpha or Christianity Explained.

Question:Is this just a "Baptist thing?"

Answer:No, it's a "Christian Thing". The course is deliberately non-denominational - the commonalities that Christians share are grounded in the person and work of Jesus Christ. If you agree with the Gospel message as described in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 then that is a good starting point for unity between conservative, charismatic, reformed, traditional, protestant, evangelical, catholic, pentecostal and any other group.

Question:I have done this course before. Should I do it again?

Answer:Perhaps - that's up to you! Since first being run in 2011 there have been a lot of improvements to the content of the course, including a streamlining the teaching and shifting all of the materials to an electronic format for delivery.

Question:Is this course suitable for boys / teenagers?

Answer:The content of this course is targeted for young men from age 15 onwards (with parental consent). Men of all ages will find parts of the study challenging, however it should be noted for parents that issues of sexual sin, including pornography will be discussed in Week 3.

Question:I am not in the Mackay Region - am I able to participate, or run this course myself?

Answer:Absolutely! Please contact us via the links below and we'd love to discuss this with you.
